What does the smart, digitally-connected campus of the future look like?

 

Toronto Metropolitan University is a public research university located in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with approximately 50,000 students and staff on campus.

 

For the past several years, the university has been outfitting buildings on campus with Internet of Things (IoT) sensors to collect data on everything from HVAC systems and energy and water meters to Wi-Fi nodes.

 

The university’s Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex, a 332,604-square-foot building with 29 stories of classrooms, laboratories, offices, and student housing, has close to 14,000 data points collecting information every day into a digital twin.

 

University researchers wanted to bring all the data from the disparate IoT systems across buildings together into a smart campus to gain new insights.

Optimized with streaming data from IoT devices, building automation systems (BAS), & other sensors.
